Hallsville East Elementary is putting its commitment to Lead. Grow. Serve. into action this October by participating in Socktober, a month-long effort to collect new socks for the Highway 80 Rescue Mission.

From October 1 through October 31, East Elementary is asking students, families, staff, and community members to donate new socks to help individuals and families in need throughout our community.

Socks are among the most-needed items for organizations serving people experiencing difficult circumstances. Through Socktober, East Elementary students have an opportunity to see how something as simple as a new pair of socks can provide comfort while demonstrating kindness and compassion for others.

East Elementary students are encouraged to Be Kind, Be Brave, and Be Drug Free as we celebrate Red Ribbon Week, October 26–30!

Red Ribbon Week is an opportunity to encourage students to make healthy choices and reinforce the importance of living drug free. Students can join the celebration throughout the week with a different themed dress-up day each day.

Red Ribbon Week Dress-Up Days

Monday, October 26 — “Pinky Swear to Not Do Drugs!”
Wear pink and make a commitment to healthy, drug-free choices.

Tuesday, October 27 — “A to Z, Drug Free is the Way to Be!”
Dress as something that begins with the first letter of your name.

Wednesday, October 28 — “RED-y to Make Good Choices”
Wear red to show that you’re ready to make positive choices and be drug free.

Thursday, October 29 — “I Mustache You to NOT Choose Drugs!”
It’s Mustache Day! Wear a fun mustache and show your commitment to making healthy choices.

Friday, October 30 — “Say BOO to Drugs!”
Celebrate the final day of Red Ribbon Week by wearing your Halloween costume.

We look forward to seeing our students have fun throughout the week while sharing an important message about making positive choices.

Hallsville East Elementary students are proving that even small acts of service can make a big difference through a pair of student-led community projects designed to help others.

Students are currently collecting aluminum cans through their “Cans for a Cause” project. Donated cans will be used to help support local families in need, giving students an opportunity to turn an everyday recyclable item into a way to serve their community.

Students are also collecting aluminum can tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. By saving and donating tabs, students and families can support an organization that provides important assistance to families during difficult times.

Families and community members are encouraged to join our students in these efforts by saving aluminum cans and can tabs and donating them to the projects.

These student-led initiatives are about more than collecting cans and tabs. They are helping our Bobcats learn the importance of service, compassion, and working together to make a positive impact on others.

Together, small things can make a BIG difference! 💜🐾

We’re working to make student birthdays a little more special, and we could use your help! 🎨🎂

Birthday bags are being put together for our students, and we would love to include some fun and creative items that give each Bobcat something special to enjoy on their birthday.

Art Supply Donations Needed

We are currently accepting donations of:

• Coloring books
• Crayons and colored pencils
• Markers
• Paint and paint sets
• Craft kits
• Other fun art supplies

Donations don’t have to be fancy! Whether you have extra supplies at home, find a great deal on clearance, or would simply like to purchase a few items to contribute, every donation can help put a smile on a student’s face and give them an opportunity to be creative.

Every little bit helps us make these birthday bags special and remind our students that their school community is thinking about them on their big day.

The Texas Legislature has enacted a new law banning the use of cell phones and personal communication devices in Texas schools. In alignment with House Bill 1481, Hallsville ISD will enforce these regulations regarding the use of personal communication devices during the instructional day.

Guidelines

Prohibited Use:

• Students may not use personal cell phones or school-issued devices for personal communication.

• House Bill 1481 prohibits the use of personal communication devices anywhere on campus during the instructional day — including hallways, restrooms, and common areas. The instructional day is defined from the first bell to the last bell, including all scheduled class periods, meals, and transitions.

• Devices must remain powered off, out of sight, or stored in a teacher-provided location.

Electronic Communication:

• Students are not permitted to use personal or school-issued devices to call, text, message, or engage in online chats.

• This includes the use of apps and services for texting, messaging, or calling.

Emergency Contact Procedures:

• Parents and guardians who need to contact their child during the school day must call the campus front office. Staff will ensure that messages are delivered promptly.

Prohibited Personal Communication Devices Include:
Cell phones, smart watches, tablets, pagers, handheld gaming devices, wireless headphones/Ear Buds.

What Parents Can Do:

• Speak to your child about this new policy.

• Encourage appropriate cell phone use.

• Promote the importance of student focus during instructional time.

Disciplinary actions for violating this policy will follow the Hallsville ISD Code of Conduct.
